Vanilla Cinnamon Cupcakes with Caramel Buttercream Frosting

On Tuesday I created my own recipe:Vanilla Cinnamon Cupcakes with Caramel Buttercream Icing. While creating this recipe I thought of the flavors of Summer that are rich and bold. The smell of cinnamon in the kitchen always takes me back to being in my Grandma's kitchen as a child. I love anything with caramel involved in the recipe so I knew that had to be a main contributing factor. Cupcakes have also always been a favorite of mine. They are individually sized, while some cool things with decorations can be created to  spice them up.

I chose to do a simple swirl for the icing and not add any additional designs. I really wanted the icing to stand out in this recipe and shine. Sometime people can be so focused on the decorations that they forget it's the flavors that really matter the most

I also like how this cupcake had a natural sheen to it so it looks great without icing as well. The cinnamon and other ingredients that I used really give it character and make it special.

What are some things that you experimented with in the kitchen this week?
